We are One Decision Away from a Completely Different Life

For the last couple of weeks when I’ve woken up in the morning, I’ve been feeling heavier, lethargic, less energized and more anxious and because of this, it’s taken me a lot longer to get through my morning routine, get my energy right and get started with my day.

I know that as a highly sensitive person, mornings - which are a liminal time between sleep and the waking state, have historically always been a time when anxiety can creep in if I’m not tuning into myself.

I also know that as a highly sensitive person, the season change can always have an impact on me even if Los Angeles weather doesn’t always accurately represent the shift (although the changing colors of tree leaves always gives it away).

But this felt different. This feeling was holding a different energy that I couldn’t quite place.

It wasn’t until I was re-watching a session recording from the Re-Birth your business program that my brilliant friend, Brionna Ned (@deathdominatrix), has been running when it clicked for me where my morning heaviness, lethargy and anxiety was coming from.

I realized that while yes, I am going through a lot of transitions at the moment, the ultimate culprit for this was actually, ironically in the plot twists of all twists: my morning routine.

My morning routine has always been something that I’ve prioritized because what we do in the morning and how we start our day, sets the tone for the rest of our day (which leads to weeks, months, years).

But as I began to look more closely, I realized that my morning routine was no longer energetically fulfilling and in fact was draining me because it no longer aligned with the present-day version of myself.

Around November of last year, I had a rather traumatic end to a relationship on top of what had already been a very difficult year with business and relationship endings and it completely sent my nervous system off the ledge.

My morning routine became one of the things that saved me and I leaned heavily on it to put myself back together.

And the thing about it is that it worked.

The meditation, the journaling, the energy work, the prayers and the slowness did what they were supposed to do: they healed me.

The problem though was that even though I had changed and my energy had dramatically shifted, my morning routine had not and had actually started doing the opposite of its original intention.

My routine was keeping me stuck in the energetic blueprint that it had been created with all those months ago which was to heal my nervous system, clear my energy, create new patterns and get me to the other side of a personal dark night of the soul.

But I no longer needed that same level of intensity so while my inside state had changed, my external routine had not caught up and had created quite a bit of dissonance…….hence the morning chaos I had been feeling.

But here’s the thing: we are always one decision away from a completely different life.

Just like I had decided to create a morning routine that was going to support me during an intense time in my life, it was now time to make a different decision and choose a new routine to reflect my current state and support where I am now headed.

And in the couple of days that I shifted my morning routine (movement as my priority), my entire days have changed (more energy, time & focus).

That’s the thing about decisions, we can literally *always* make a different one at any given point in time that can take us down a completely different path or timeline.

And when we break that down even more, that decision is almost always backed by many mini-decisions leading up to one life-changing one.

This isn’t to put pressure on every single choice that we make throughout the day and at the same time it is to say that our choices and our decisions matter. They accumulate over time and our life is often a reflection of those choices.

There’s no judgement around this, most of us are doing the best we can with what we have at any given moment.

And this is why I always emphasize the importance of nervous system work and energy healing because many of us don’t realize that we can shift what we consider our “best.” We often find ourselves making decisions from faulty internal programming and/or a dysregulated nervous system which then create our thoughts, actions, patterns, behaviors, choices and overall life.

This is also definitely not to say we “choose” those challenging events that may happen in our lives.

However……..

How we respond to life is 100% our decision.

How we choose to heal (or not) is our decision.

How we choose to spend our time and who we spend it with is our decision.

What we put into our body is our decision.

What we put our energy towards is our decision.

The thoughts that we choose to believe is our decision.

Whether it’s what time you go to bed, wake up, eat throughout the day, what phone call(s) you decide to answer, saying yes or no to that date, reading a book instead of more screen time……..

What’s one different choice you can make today?

Remember, , we have much more power than we think. Life may get challenging and a clear answer may not always be readily available, but I promise it will reveal itself eventually. I promise that we don’t have to have it all figured out right now and that it may not always seem like it, but consistent small choices really can pave the way to a completely different life.

Sending you love and courage,

Bianca
